Karnataka High Court to Govt: Allocate beds to patients suffering from Black Fungus

As the cases in the State of Karnataka are rising, the Karnataka High Court has directed the State Government to provide beds to the patients of the Black fungus and also inform the public on daily basis regarding the availability of beds.

The direction comes after the State recorded 535 cases of Black fungus last week and PIL’s were filed on the issues concerning with the outbreak of the pandemic.

The Court directed the State to provide with free treatment in Government hospitals as the treatment in Private hospitals was not pocket friendly due to Covid and Black fungus infection.

Further, the Court also ordered the State to make sure that Private hospitals treating Covid-19 patients must take necessary steps to prevent the spread of Black fungus thereby creating awareness amongst the people regarding the nature and scope of the same.

In conclusion, the Court was further informed that 2,817 people are affected with black fungus, 2,304 are on recovery mode, 179 have recovered and 117 people have left the hospital against the medical advice.
