The High Court of Karnataka has ordered the management of sixteen mosques in Bengaluru to submit an affidavit concerning the sound pollution.

The order came from a Division Bench headed by Chief Justice AS Oka and Justice Sanjay Gowda in response to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by 32 residents of Icon Apartments on Thanisandra Road.

It was submitted during the hearing by the respondent that the management of the Masjid has taken permission before using the loudspeakers.

The Bench asked the management of Masjids, “Submit an affidavit before the court on whether the guidelines prescribed by the government are being followed to avoid sound pollution along with the statement that a license has been obtained by them as per the Pollution Control Board (PCB) guidelines. In case a license is not acquired, they will not make use of loudspeakers.”
