IMA opposes Baba Ramdev petition to club FIR against him, SC to hear matter next week

Queency Jain –

The Supreme Court has postponed Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s petition to compile multiple FIR’s filed against him in different states and transfer all of them to Delhi.

The decision comes after the Court stated that they received the video and transcripts of the statements made by Ramdev on Allopathy cure for Covid-19, last night at 11 Pm and they needed time to check all of them. The video and transcripts were submitted by Ramdev after the Court asked Ramdev to produce all of them.

While Ramdev has made statements on the Allopathy cure for Covid-19, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) filed an impleadment application against him claiming that Ramdev has been promoting his Patanjali products by starting false propaganda against Allopathy doctors.

Though the counsel on the behalf of IMA argued that they have duly prepared the charts of all the statements made by Ramdev, the Court adjourned the matter.

Ramdev plea for transferring all the FIR’s filed against him to Delhi comes after various FIRs under Section 188, 269 and 504 of Indian Penal Code and provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005 were filed in the States of Bihar and Chhattisgarh alleging Ramdev to be at a position of influence thereby influencing people not to take proper treatment in the pandemic.

While Ramdev requested for transfer of FIR’s and an interim stay on the investigation, the Apex Court adjourned the matter to next week.
