On Thursday, a Sessions Court in Gandhinagar granted Bail to 55 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workmen, along with its Gujarat unit president, Gopal Italia. They were arrested ten days ago on charges of Rioting, Sexual Harassment, Assault, and breaking and entering into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) head office named ‘Kamalam.’

On December 20, several AAP workers stormed the state BJP head office in Gandhinagar to protest the recent question paper leak for the Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board’s head clerk recruitment exam, and feuded with ruling party workers. The written exam was decided to be cancelled by the state Government as a result of the protest.

Police in Gandhinagar filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a mob of 500 people and arrested 93 people, which include AAP members and leaders, for causing a commotion at the state BJP headquarters. Shraddha Rajput, a BJP leader, lodged a Complaint. Rioting, Sexual Harrasment, intrusion, Assault on public servants, Wrongful Restraint, and Unlawful Assembly are amongst the charges levelled against AAP workers.

The Court first granted Bail to 28 female employees. Later, 10 people were granted Bail, the majority of whom were drivers of vehicles in which AAP workers had reached.
