On December 4, environmentalist Lt. Col. (retd.) Sarvadaman Singh Oberoi through his application brought to the notice of the Supreme Court, the rebuilding of an illegal farmhouse belonging to the former Haryana Minister that was demolished by Faridabad Municipal Corporation in the pursuance of the Court orders.

The farmhouse belonged to Vipul Goel, who was Environment Minister of Haryana in the previous BJP Government. Mr. Oberoi had also submitted pictures from December 3 of the partial demolition and also the newly built walls of the same.

The application also stated that the farmhouse is spread across 10.9 Acres and that it is covered under Sections 4 and 5 of the Punjab Land Preservation Act. In the affidavit filed by the Haryana Forest Department before the National Green Tribunal in the matter titled Sonya Ghosh vs. State of Haryana & Ors., it is mentioned at 3rd number in the total of 123 illegal encroachments.

Earlier, Mr. Oberoi had claimed that the department had carried out only cosmetic demolition of the boundary walls in pursuance of the Court order, just to produce photos of the demolition. He also stated that those demolished walls could be fixed in a couple of days and that in some cases it has already begun.
