A Delhi Court has extended the judicial custody of Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar till June 25 in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium murder case of wrestler Sagar Dhankhar.

Kumar was produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate Reetika Jain at the end of his nine-days judicial custody. The Court extended his judicial custody for two more weeks.

Kumar was arrested on May 23, along with co-accused Ajay Kumar Sehrawat, on charges of murder, culpable homicide and kidnapping. He along with his associates allegedly assaulted Sagar Dhankar and two of his friends at a stadium on May 4 and 5 over a property dispute.

Police have alleged that Kumar is the “Main culprit and mastermind” of the murder and also said that there is electronic evidence that showed Kumar and his associates beating Dhankar.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police have also arrested Anirudh, close aide of Kumar in the alleged assault.

The Court last month had refused to grant anticipatory bail to the wrestler and his application seeking special food and supplements in the prison was also dismissed.
