President of India has apprised the appointment of Advocates CP Mohammed Nias and Viju Abraham as Additional Judges of High Court of Kerala for two years with effect from the date they assume charge.
Kerala High Court Collegium had earlier recommended for the elevation of CP Mohammed Nias, Viju Abraham, and 8 other Advocates to the Supreme Court Collegium on April 12, 2018.
The Supreme Court Collegium considered the recommendations of Kerala High Court Collegium on October 9, 2018. The recommendations considered by the Supreme Court Collegium were approved in March 2019, except for Viju Abraham, whose approval was deferred for a later date.
In May 2019, the Supreme Court Collegium approved the elevation for Viju Abraham.
In March 2021, the Supreme Court collegium had reiterated its approval for Advocates Viju Abraham, CP Mohammed Nias, and 2 other Advocates for elevation to the Kerala High Court.
Finally, notification for appointment dated August 11, 2021, of Advocates CP Mohammed Nias and Viju Abraham as Kerala High Court Judges has been issued by the Centre.
