Delhi Police served notices to two Congress leaders, Rohan Gupta, Party’s Social Media Head and MV Rajeev Gowda, Party’s Spokesperson, asking them to join the investigation in the ‘COVID Toolkit case’.

“These are not fresh notices. These notices were served around 8-9 days ago based on a complaint received from Congress. They were asked to join the probe so that it could help us in carrying the investigation forward,” the Senior Police Officer stated.

The Officials informed that as of yet no FIR has been registered in the matter and a preliminary inquiry into the complaint is being conducted by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell Team.

On May 24, A notice was sent by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell to Twitter India in connection with the probe , demanding it to share information based on which it had classified a tweet regarding the matter by BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra as “manipulated media”.

The Delhi police team went to the Twitter office to serve a notice to Twitter as a part of routine process. This was necessitated as we wanted to ascertain who is the right person to serve a notice, as replies by Twitter India MD have been very ambiguous,”, Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal stated.

BJP has accused Congress Party of creating a “tool kit” on how to go about ruining the image of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the handling of the COVID 19 Pandemic. Congress however denies the allegation.
