In connection with the murder of three people in Bharuch over a land dispute, an Uttar Pradesh Court sentenced one person to death and three others to life in prison.

Satya Prakash, Bhavar Singh, and Sundar Singh were shot dead three years ago in Bharuch village, Raya, while they were asleep in three separate locations. They were assassinated over a land dispute, according to reports.

After the incident, the deceased Satya Prakash’s nephew Jeetendra filed an FIR against unknown persons. Gajraj, Chandan Singh, Kali Charan, Anil Kumar, and Bhagwati Devi were then arrested in the village. Since Bhagwati Devi was found to be innocent, the Additional District Judge released her, while Chandan Singh was sentenced to death following his arrest.

Life sentences were handed down to Kali Charan, Anil Kumar, and Gajraj Singh. This case had been heard in a Mathura Court for almost three years, according to social activist Sameer. He said, “It will now most likely go to the high court or even the Supreme Court,”.

In another case in Uttar Pradesh, an Additional District Judge (POCSO) Mridul Dubey sentenced a man named Neeraj to death for raping a 10-year-old girl in Jasrana, Firozabad, three months ago. On September 10, 2020, a 10-year-old girl and her father went to a Bhandara in Firozabad’s Jasrana village to get prasad. Then 30-year-old Neeraj kidnapped the girl and raped her in the field under the guise of taking her to her home.

The victim’s father filed an FIR, and the accused was arrested as a result. Several High Courts and Supreme Court decisions were presented by a government counsel. Based on the facts and the girl’s plight, the court found Neeraj guilty and sentenced him to death under the POCSO law.
