Demanding the tasks related to the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya to be clean and fair, the Indian National Congress has demanded a Supreme Court monitored probe against the purchase of land deal the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

The Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, while holding a virtual conference, alleged the purchase of land by the trust to be one of the biggest scams and stated that there is an immediate need for the Supreme Court to intervene, take cognizance and hold investigation of the same.

Further, Surjewala also stated that there is an immediate need for auditing of donations and expenses under the supervision of the Supreme Court to find out the default and irregularities in the purchase of land.

The land is alleged to be purchase by Ravi Mohan Tiwari and Ansari for Rs. 2 crores and sold for Rs. 18.5 crores to the trust within 5 minutes of such purchase.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Tej Narayan Pandey, who first brought up the news in the public domain, has called for a CBI enquiry thereby demanding an RTGS transfer probe after he claimed that 17 crores were transferred to the owners of the land through RTGS by the trust for the purchase of land.

However, Champat Rai, General Secretary of the trust has refuted the claims and called them to be politically influenced.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust was established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2020 to look after the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
