Qui Ziming, a 38 year old internet celebrity has been sentenced with 8 months jail after he made defamatory comments on Chinese soldiers who died in a border clash with Indian soldiers at Galwan Valley.

Last year, in June after there was a clash of Chinese soldiers with Indian troops, the Chinese Government released that only 4 of their soldiers were killed in the clash.

Ziming, made a derogatory statement claiming the fatalities of the state to be much more than the officials had declared and alleged that various soldiers died coming to the aid of troops in need.

After such claims, a Court in Nanjing in eastern China’s Jiangsu found that the statements made by the celebrity infringed the reputation and honor of the heroes and martyrs.

Under China’s new criminal law provision, the Court held Ziming guilty of making such statement and sentenced him 8 months of jail, which is lighter than the usual as he truthfully confessed his crime.

In conclusion, Ziming is asked to apologize of national media within 10 days after the announcement of his sentence.
