The Kerala High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take charge of the investigation into the death of the Walayar sibling’s case.

An elder girl aged thirteen and her younger sibling aged nine were found dead in a room at Palakkad district in 2017. A petition was filed by the victim’s mother seeking proper and speedily investigation into the case matter.

In October 2009, The Crime branch arrested four accused Valya Madhu, Kutti Madhu, Shibu, and Pradeep Kumar but due to lack of evidence, the Special Court for POCSO acquitted all four arrested accused.

Justice V.G.Arun set aside the special court’s order and directed a fresh inquiry of the case. He asked the crime branch to provide all the case files and documents to the Superintendent of Police, CBI, Thiruvananthapuram unit and also submitted that the prosecution can file another petition before the special court if needed.
