The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has exposed a major corruption scandal involving a prominent neurosurgeon at Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. Manish Rawat. The investigation has brought to light how Dr. Rawat allegedly extorted crores of rupees from his patients by exploiting their vulnerabilities during their treatment.

The accused doctor reportedly acquired assets worth ₹4.63 crore, including five immovable properties in Noida (Uttar Pradesh) and Haldwani.

The CBI launched a thorough investigation into the matter following multiple complaints from patients and their families who had undergone treatment under Dr. Manish Rawat’s care.

The complaints raised suspicion about the exorbitant medical bills and the forceful demand for additional payments by the doctor and his associates.

As the case unfolded, it became apparent that Dr. Rawat, who was considered a reputable neurosurgeon in Safdarjung Hospital, had been misusing his position and expertise to manipulate vulnerable patients for financial gains. Patients and their families, already burdened with the stress of dealing with critical health conditions, found themselves facing severe financial strain due to the exorbitant bills and unexplained charges levied by the doctor.

According to CBI sources, the modus operandi of the accused doctor involved recommending unnecessary medical procedures, inflated charges for surgeries, and undisclosed fees for post-operative care. Patients and their families, desperate to secure the best treatment for their ailments, were left with no choice but to comply with Dr. Rawat’s demands, unaware of the extortion tactics being employed.

During the investigation, the CBI uncovered evidence of Dr. Manish Rawat’s ill-gotten wealth, including five immovable properties valued at ₹3.47 crore each in Noida and Haldwani. These properties are believed to have been acquired through the proceeds of the alleged extortion.

Upon gathering substantial evidence, the CBI promptly arrested Dr. Manish Rawat and his associates involved in the racket. They will be charged with corruption, extortion, and other relevant sections of the law.

The Safdarjung Hospital administration expressed shock and dismay at the revelations, assuring full cooperation with the investigating authorities. They stated that Dr. Rawat’s actions do not represent the ethical standards upheld by the institution and that the hospital remains committed to providing quality healthcare to all patients.
