A PIL has been filed before the Calcutta High Court seeking prohibition on the exhibition of the movie Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the State because it may disrupt the peace.

The BJP leader has moved the HC, stating that the situation in the state is extremely volatile to any issue relating to religion. The petitioner has also referred to some recent events of unrest in the state.

Since the situation of Nupur Sharma, it has been noticed that there is public unrest and communal violence.

The plea also states that Aamir Khan had appeared in an advertisement which had stated that firecrackers should not be used during Diwali due to noise pollution, after which he was criticized by Hindus, which caused a religious divide in the country.

The movie has been further accused of defaming and demoralizing the Indian Army.

Hence, the plea seeks to direct the respondents to not exhibit the film in the State of West Bengal, to maintain peace and security and ensure peace and security of individuals watching the movie if in case the exhibition is not prohibited.
