The Supreme Court to hear a plea seeking to quash Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) notification dated June 5, 2021 which does not offer an “Opt-out” option to students in respect of the May cycle of the CA examinations.

The plea filed by President India Wide Parents Association Lawyer and Child Rights Activist Anubha Srivastava on behalf of the students pleaded to allow an additional attempt to any candidate who fails to appear in the July 2021 CA examination due to Covid-19 restriction.

Further, an examination centre in each district not accommodating more than 50 students per centre and implementation of the Covid-19 guidelines according to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the CA exam was also pleaded.

It also requested to issue directions to the respondents to provide free transportation and accommodation to the desirous students of the CA examinations, May 2021 Cycle and for Foundation Course candidates near their respective examination centres. Also, to issue directions to concerned authorities to treat the e-Admit cards as e-passes to enable free movement of such students in all zones during the examinations was also requested.

A prayer to issue orders to the respondents to provide at least one stand-by examination centre in a nearby location for certain examination centres that would most likely go into the containment zone during the examination period was also made.
