Bombay High Court directed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to maintain Status Quo on the work of straightening the alignment of the Ambil Odha stream near the Dandekar Bridge.

A Bench comprising Justices A A Sayed and Abhay Ahuja, after hearing the Counsel for the parties stated “We note that in the report of PriMove Infrastructure Development Consultants Pvt Ltd, dated April 2020, it is interalia recommended to avoid diverting natural nallas or stream.”

The Petition was filed by Activist Kishor Kamble, raising concern about the ongoing efforts of the PMC to alter the curved alignment of the natural stream that flows through the heart of the city.

The Petitioner claimed that the no power lies with the to alter the alignment of the natural stream and that in the interest of real estate developers.

Further the Petitioner highlighted that in 2019 PMC came up with a report not to alter the alignment of the stream to avoid flooding in the future pertaining to Ambil Odha flooding.

Furthermore, the Petitioner noted that the alignment work was in connection to the real estate developer’s project of slum rehabilitation, alleging alteration in the alignment of the stream supported by the PMC.
