6 Judicial Officers Were Appointed by Central Government as Additional Judges of Bombay HC

The Centre has sanctioned the appointment of six judicial officers as additional judges of the Bombay High Court.

The Department of Justice, of the Union of Law Ministry published the notification regarding this. The following judicial officers have been appointed:

  1. Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh
  2. Yanshivraj Gopichand Khobragade
  3. Mahendra Wadhumal Chandwani
  4. Abhay Sopanrao Waghwase
  5. Ravindra Madhusudan Joshi; and
  6. Vrushali @ Shubhangi Vijay Joshi

Mahendra Wadhumal Chandwani is presently the Registrar General of the Bombay High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium had suggested the names of these six persons in a meeting dated September 7. The Collegium also recommended two advocates for promotion, but those names have yet to be confirmed.

There are presently 43 permanent and 18 additional judges working in the Bombay High Court.

The sanctioned strength of the Bombay HC is 94 Judges. However, with the disclosure of six new names the number of judges in Bombay HC will rise to 67 judges.
