Bombay High Court continues stay on eviction, demolition or dispossession till August 13

The High Court of Bombay on April 16 passed orders restricting on doing any act of eviction, demolition, and dispossession during the period of COVID-19 and granted parties liberty to move the Court in any case of emergency.

The Court on Monday said that the interim orders passed by the various Courts while keeping theCOVID-19 situation the abeyance will be further kept till August 9.

The constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justices A A Sayed, S S Shinde and P B Varale was hearing a suo moto plea about the extension of protection for those who aren’t able to avail justice due to restrictions imposed on the Court functioning due to the pandemic. 

“In view of this the interim order of April 16, 2021, is extended till August 13, 2021, or till further orders, whichever is earlier,” the bench said.

The bench will decide the further extension of interim orders on 9th August.
