Mahendra Nath Pandey is the current Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. He’s representing the Chandauli Constituency of Uttar Pradesh. He is politically affiliated to BJP. 

BACKGROUND- Mahendra Nath Pandey Pandey was born to Late Sudhakar Pandey and Late Chandrawati Pandey. He married Pratima Pandey, a homemaker, in 1985. And they have a daughter.

UPBRINGING & EDUCATION– Mahendra Nath Pandey hails from Pakkhanpur, Ghazipur District, Uttar Pradesh. He did his post-graduation in Journalism and also, he did Ph. D. in Hindi from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

WALK OF LIFE- Mahendra Nath Pandey was actively involved in his college days. He was student’s union president at C.M. Anglo Bengali College and also served as Secretary – General of the Banaras Hindu University Student Union. He was also involved in the 1970 emergency and served a few months in prison. Mr. Pandey became a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1978.

He was also booked under National Security Act (NSA) in the year in the 1980s. From the year 1991 to 2002, he was elected twice for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In the year 1991  1992, he also served as Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party State Legislature, Uttar Pradesh. In the year 1997, he was Minister of State, Housing & Urban Development of Uttar Pradesh.

He received the independent charge of the Minister of State Planning of Uttar Pradesh in 1998 – 2000. In the year 2000- 2002, he was the Minister of State Panchayati Raj of Uttar Pradesh. He got elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from the Chandauli constituency of Purvanchal in the 2014 general elections.

In the same year, he was made Member of the Standing Committee on Rural Development and Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Steel and Mines. From Dec 2014 – 5 July 2016he was a Member of the Business Advisory Committee and Member, Committee of Parliament on Official Language.

In July 2016, he was Union Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development during the cabinet reshuffle of the Modi government. In 2017 he was president of Bharatiya Janata Party, Uttar Pradesh. From Sept. 2017 to May 2019, he was a Member of the Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare. In May 2019, he was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha for a second term. Since 30 May 2019, he is serving as Union Cabinet Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
