The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried on searches at 20 different locations on 2nd September about a case of an alleged malfunction being performed in JEE Main 2021 exam by a certain private educational institution.

JEE Main is an online examination conducted for admission in undergraduate courses of engineering, architecture and planning courses in India.

This exam is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

JEE Main came under the radar when the CBI arrested seven people of a private consultancy firm for facilitating admission in top engineering colleges by charging Rs 15 lakh from each candidate.

Affinity Education Directors Siddharth Krishna and Vishambar Mani Tripathi, and its employee Hritik Singh have been sent to CBI Custody by a CBI Court till 9th September.

The remaining people having a connection with this case will be brought before a Magistrate later on.

It has come to the knowledge of the CBI that the accusers along with the supervisors of JEE Main Exam 2021 at the Sonipat centre made arrangements for using fraudulent methods during the exam.
