Uttarakhand HC seeks response from govt on arrangements made for Christmas & New Year amid COVID-19

The Uttarakhand High Court has asked the state government about the arrangements made to control the Christmas and New Year parties in Dehradun, Nainital, and Mussoorie.

The inquiry on the same was made by the bench comprising Justice Alok Kumar Verma and Acting Chief Justice Ravi Malimath while hearing a petition filed concerning the arrangements of the quarantine centres in the state.

The Uttarakhand High Court sought a response from the state during the next hearing scheduled on 30th December.

Observing the increase in the COVID-19 cases, the Uttarakhand government on 23rd December issued a notification regarding the restrictions, that will be imposed on public gatherings and parties on Christmas, New Year and on bars, hotels, pubs, and other public places on 1st January 2021.

As of 23rd December, Uttarakhand has recorded 5,507 active cases out of which 564 were new COVID-19 cases recorded on Wednesday, and the total tally of the state stands at 87,940 with 1,447 deaths due to COVID-19.
