In the previous four days, the highest court resolved 1,293 miscellaneous cases, 106 regular cases, and 440 transfer cases, according to Chief Justice of India UU Lalit.

At the felicitation event held in his honour by the Bar Council of India, CJI Lalit revealed this information.

CJI Lalit stated that his Secretary-General had just presented him with information from the last four days that showed 1,293 miscellaneous cases and 440 transfer matters had been resolved. CJI Lalit said that 106 regular matters were resolved during the course of the previous two days.

“We are giving more and more emphasis to dispose of regular matters,” CJI Lalit said.

CJI Lalit said that the Supreme Court will do its best to resolve as many cases as it could and urged the lawyers in attendance to inform every district and region of the nation.

CJI Lalit said that he would try his hardest to live up to everyone’s expectations, merit standing before the lawyers three months from now, and receive more flowers than he did today.

In comparison to the period before to his appointment, CJI Lalit claimed that the court has been listing things that are far more numerous.

On Friday night, the Bar Council of India hosted a felicitation event in honour of Chief Justice of India UU Lalit.

Last Saturday, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit took the oath of office as the 49th Chief Justice of India. Justice Lalit was sworn in as Chief Justice of India by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

On August 26, Justice NV Ramana retired, and he took his place. As per tradition and seniority rules, Justice Ramana had suggested Justice Lalit as his replacement. Justice Lalit’s nomination as the next Chief Justice of India was later ratified by the President.

As the head of India’s judiciary, Justice Lalit will hold office for only 74 days, leaving on November 8.

On November 8, Justice Lalit will retire, and it is anticipated that Justice DY Chandrachud would be named the 50th Chief Justice of India.
