Supreme Court issued a notice on writ petition seeking SIT/CBI investigation into the killing of two BJP workers in west Bengal allegedly by members of Trinamool Congress post result declaration.

The court has scheduled to hear the matter on 25th May, 2021

The notice was issued while the vacation bench comprising of Justices Vineet Saran and BR Gavai was considering the plea of Biswajit Sarkar, brother of deceased BJP member Avjit Sarkar.

The petition sought constitution of a Special Investigation Team to investigate into the murder of the petitioner’s brother and the booth worker Haran Adhikari allegedly under the Trinamool Congress.

Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani appearing for the petitioners, submitted that there was a complete lack on steps by the West Bengal police in the violent upsurge and there were attempts to subvert the investigation.

The request made for video-conferencing of the autopsy of Avjit Sarkar was denied ex-parte by the court.

“The activists who were murdered belonged to BJP. It was encouraged by the State administration and the police story idly by…The State is taking no action. It requires action and court monitoring”, Mr.Jethmalani apprised.
