Vijay Kumar Hansdak, is an incumbent Member of the Parliament. He represents the Rajmahal constituency of Jharkhand and a member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) political party.
He has been re-elected to 17th Lok Sabha for the 2nd term, in May 2019. Thereunder, from September, 2019, he has been the member of the Joint Committee on Offices of Profit, Standing Committee on Coal and Steel and the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Previously, he was elected to 16th Lok Sabha, in May 2014, from the same seat as that of his late father, Shri Thomas Hansda. Hereunder, from 07 October 2014 to 25 May 2019, he served as a member of the Standing Committee on Rural Development as well as member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Coal. Besides, from 12 March 2015 – 25 May 2019, he was a Member, Library Committee.
Vijay Kumar Hansdak was born on 27 October 1982, at Barharwa, Distt. Sahibganj. His mother’s name is Smt. Shanti Sarojini Murmu and his father, late Shri Thomas Hansda, was the former Congress MP and former Congress State (Jharkhand) President.
He is matric educated at St. Xavier s School, Sahibganj, Jharkhand and is an agriculturist by profession. He has been actively associated with social welfare programmes and also associated with cultural programmes in the tribal area of Rajmahal, his constituency.
