Shahrukh Khan is a Bollywood actor, producer started career on television show fauji.. He was honoured with UNESCO’s Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children’s education and the World Economic Forum’s Crystal Award in 2018 for his leadership in championing women’s and children’s rights in India.

=> Offences of Defamation and Criminal Conspiracy under section 500, 501 & 120B were alleged against the petitioner over a dialogue spoken in a courtroom scene of a movie in which he questioned the conduct of the lawyer. The court held that movie’s critique was general which broadly laid the responsibility of the social wretchedness upon the society, therefore offending dialogue did not came off as defamatory and hence petitioner was not liable.

=> A show cause notice was issued to the applicant under Section 148 of the Income-tax Act 1961, seeking to re-open the Assessment. The court held that the impugned notice was without jurisdiction.

  • The Calcutta High Court in 2019 directed Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan to file an affidavit explaining his relation with the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), against which a CBI probe has been sought for misleading and duping students. Justice Debangshu Basak directed Shahrukh Khan — who has appeared in some IIPM advertisements, his firm Red Chillies Entertainment and the institute’s promoter Arindam Chaudhuri to file individual affidavits.
