BACKGROUND –
Satyendra Jain was born and brought up in a middle-class family. His father, Ram Sharan Jain was a teacher (retired). He wants to be like his father by helping and guiding people but he took it a step further. He participated in work with social welfare organizations.
Later he became a volunteer and work with Drishti, an organization working to help the visually impaired; and SPARSH, an organization that aims and is dedicated to the empowerment and welfare of the physically and mentally challenged people.
Jain did his schooling at Ramjas School, No.2, Delhi, and did his Graduation in Architecture from the Indian Institute of Architects, Delhi. He worked at the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) before he entered into politics. After some time he quit that job to set up his own architectural consultancy firm.
He served as Health and Industries Minister in the first AAP( Aam Aadmi Party) Government from 28/12/2013 to 15/02/2014. He was re-elected from Shakur Basti Assembly Constituency in the recent Delhi Assembly elections 2020. He is holding many portfolios such as Minister of Health, Power, PWD, I&FC, Urban Development, Industries, and Home, Government of NCT of Delhi. Presently he is a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Delhi.
MAJOR INITIATIVES-
He brought an initiative and built 300 mohalla clinics that are functioning in Delhi. This is a record in itself as no other country or city has the government or administration opened 300 primary healthcare centers within a span of 5 years.
75,000 CCTV cameras have been installed by his government and by next year he promised to install at least 1.5 lakh of CCTV Cameras. He also launched an initiative to install Wi-Fi hotspots in 11000 locations in Delhi. Besides this, the process of generating 100 MW of power through the installation of rooftop solar panels is underway.
He was also working with farmers to enable them to adopt solar power. He is also interested in to persuade housing societies install rooftop solar panels.

CONTROVERSIES/CASES –
The Shunglu Committee report has accused Satyendra Jain of nepotism as well as procedural misconduct. CBI investigated and alleged that he hired his daughter to help support AAP’s healthcare initiative. AAP has called this harassment by CBI to derail development in the Health sector.
Later CBI relented and closed the case as it was discovered that his daughter worked for free and did not use any of the party’s resources. During the investigation, Jain got criticized a lot by the public at large.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a chargesheet in 2017 against him, saying his assets are worth over 217 per cent as compared to his income.
