UPBRINGING & EDUCATION: He did his graduation in B.A (Hons.) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University in 1992. He pursued his LLB from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University in 1995. He passed his postgraduate degree in B.C.L Law from University of Oxford in 1997. Thereafter, he completed his master’s in law from Harvard Law School in 1998.

WALK OF LIFE: Rai began his career as an Associate in the Business Practice Group of Jones Day in 1998, before relocating to India to practice corporate law.

As he has done LL.M from Harvard, he then worked at US-International Law firm Jones Day’s Cleveland, Ohio head office for two years, accompany by its then-Indian-best-friend firm Pathak & Associates from 2000 until 2003.

Rai focuses primarily on regulatory disputes. He has also acted as Indian law expert to English courts.

Rai is not qualified as an English lawyer and said it was unlikely that he would: “There’s enough Indian law work which is international, whether inbound or outbound.”

Rai is married to Oxford University Prof Lavanya Rajamami.

In 2013, Rai is spending much of the summer months on his primarily- arbitration practice to the senior counsel Gopal Subramanium and Harish Salve.

Rai is recently designated as Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court of India in 2019.

Ritin also teaches a course on the practice of commercial disputes at the Jindal Global Law School where he has been appointed Honorary Adjunct Professor of Law and Distinguished Professor of Legal Practice.

Rai brings his experience as a corporate lawyer to bear on a variety of commercial and regulatory disputes, including in company, competition, insolvency and telecommunications law.
