REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT- Implemented PMKSY-PDMC since 2015-16 for enhancing water use efficiency in the agriculture sector: has covered under micro irrigation 11.72 lakh hectares for the year 2019-20 which is a significant achievement.

 The Union Minister of Steel, Mines, Labour and Employment in the Modi government, Narendra Singh Tomar has become the cabinet minister for the second time in the NDA government. In 2003, he was the cabinet minister in the Madhya Pradesh government. Apart from being a prominent politician, Tomar is actively involved in social welfare programmes like blood donation camps, plantation programmes and helping the needy.

UPBRINGING & EDUCATION – Tomar was born on 12 June 1957 in the village of Gwalior district of (Madhya Pradesh) to Munshi Singh Tomar and Sharda Devi Tomar. He did his graduation from Jiwaji University. He is married to Kiran Tomar. They have two sons and a daughter. He was nicknamed as Munna Bhaiya by Babulal Gaur.

1980: Narendra Singh Tomar became the President of Bharatiya Janata Party Youth Forum (BJPYF), Gwalior

1983 :He was the Councillor of Municipal Corporation, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh

1984 : He has been the Pradesh Mantri of BJPYF, Madhya Pradesh

1986: He became the State Vice-President of BJPYF, Madhya Pradesh

1991: He has been the State President, BJPYF, Madhya Pradesh

1998: He was made the Member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly (Two Terms)

2003 :He became the Cabinet Minister of Govt. of Madhya Pradesh

2006 :He was the Member of Rajya Sabha.

2006 :He became the President of BJP, Madhya Pradesh

2009 :He became the Member of Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers

2009 :He was Elected to 15th Lok Sabha from Morena Loksabha Constituency. He defeated Ramniwas Rawat of Congress Party.

2014: He was the Union Cabinet Minister of Mines and Steel

2014 :He was the Union Cabinet Minister, Mines, Steel and Labour & Employment

2014 :He contested from Gwalior and re-elected to 16th Lok Sabha (2nd term). He defeated Ashok Singh of Congress.

2016: He became the Union Cabinet Minister, Rural Development; Panchayati Raj; and Drinking Water and Sanitation

2017: He is the Union Cabinet Minister of Rural Development; Panchayati Raj; and Mines.

2017: He was made the Union Cabinet Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs

2019: He was inducted into Modi’d cabinet as Minister of agriculture and farmers welfare, Minister of rural development and Minister of panchayati raj.

2019 : He contested and won from Morena constituency in Madhya Pradesh by a margin of over two lakh votes.

MAJOR INITIATIVES TAKEN-

ICAR-IIHR Seed Portal with YONO Krishi web application of State Bank of India on 26.08.2020 at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi : help farmers immensely in increasing the crop production and crop quality, and income generation.

Sahakar Pragya initiative launched by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC),along with the Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC) : The initiative aims at imparting knowledge and organisational skills to primary cooperative societies

PM KISAN: Scheme was among the several new initiatives undertaken by the Prime Minister in agriculture and rural development sectors to achieve the target of doubling farmers income by the year 2022.

The Saras Collection showcases daily utility products made by rural self-help groups (SHGs) and aims to provide SHGs in rural areas with market access to Central and State Government buyers.
