BACKGROUND –
Narayan Rane is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. Rane is currently a cabinet minister of small and medium enterprise. Rane joined the politics during his twenties . He also became the councillor of Ropargaon in 1999 , when the chief minister of Maharashtra stepped down he succeeded him.
He was expelled from the party because of his gangsterism . Later he joined congress and was made revenue minister of Maharashtra . He submitted his resignation to the chief minister “ Prithviraj Chavan” to quit the post of Industries mimister in chavan’s cabinet. Rane protested against the congress party which resulted in his six year suspension.
Later he apologised Sonia Gandhi and joined the party again on 1st oct 2017. Rane joined the Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha and indicated allay with BJP.
He criticised Uddhav Thackrey . Rane merged his party “Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha” with BJP . In the presence of chief minister “ Devendra Fadnavis” . Presently he became minister of small, micro and medium enterprise after reshuffle in Modi’s cabinet.

CONTROVERSIES/CASES –
1. He also gave controversial statement against the CM of Maharashtra “Uddhav Thackrey” is that Uddhav Thackrey is the “god father of the Sachin Vaze” so he should resign.
2 It was alleged that he was involved in Adarsh housing society scam.
3. It was also alleged by an activist that Rane during his tenure as revenue minister in the shiv sena – BJP , had returned the prime plot of land in a pune who had already received compensation.
4. In 2011 Shiv Sena leaders met governor of Maharashtra K Sankarnarayan demanding a separate inquiry against Rane into alleged land scams.
5. In 2011 Bombay High Court issued notice to Rane that an organisation headed by his wife Neelam misused a plot and made restaurant on it.
