He was born on 07 May 1969 in Sirathu, Distt. Kaushambi (Uttar Pradesh). He has completed his Hindi Literature at the Hindu Sahitya Sammelan in Allahabad.
By profession, he is a businessperson and a politician. His parents are Late Shri Shyam Lal Maurya and Smt. Dhanapati Devi. His wife is Smt. Rajkumari Devi and has 2 sons.
He is currently holding office as Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; Minister of public works department; Minister of food processing; Minister of entertainment tax; Minister of pubic enterprises.
He was the first MLA for BJP from Sirathu Tahseel in 2012. He has also participated in Ram Janmabhoomi and gauraksha (cow – protection) movements. From an early age, he has been associated with RSS and the VHP-Bajrang Dal.
