BACKGROUND

Ghulam Rabbani is an Indian politician currently serving as the Minister of State for Labour and cabinet minister of minority affairs and Madarsa Education in the Government of West Bengal. He is affiliated with the All India Trinamool Congress. He was elected as the Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Goalpokhar Vidhan Sabha Constituency in 2011, 2016, and 2021.

Rabbani was previously a member of Indian National Congress. He contested and won the 2011 West Bengal Assembly Elections from the Goalpokhar constituency.

He achieved this feat by defeating All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) candidate, Safiur Rahaman with the difference of 10% vote-share. He became a member of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and was re-elected as MLA in 2016 and 2021 from the same constituency (Goalpokhar constituency).
