Arnab Goswami is a journalist or a TV news anchor. Currently he owned the position of Editor – in – chief in his own launched venture Republic TV.
Prior to this he was associated with some big or famous organizations like The Telegraph, NDTV, and Times Now.
He hosted some famous shows like ‘Frankly Speaking with Arnab’ and ‘Bharat Puchta Hai’. He also co-anchored a show with Rajdeep Serdesai on erstwhile DD Metro Channel.

In May 2017, The Bennet Coleman & Co. Ltd (The Times Now Group), lodged a police complaint in the Azad Maidan Police Station, Mumbai against Arnab Goswami for theft, infringement of intellectual Property Rights, criminal breach of trust by using the Times Now’s material on Republic TV.

While doing reporting in Sunanda Pushkar, ex-wife of Dr. Shashi Tharoor, death incident, Arnab Goswami allegedly passed comments on Shashi Tharoor and defaming or blaming him for his wife’s death. After this Shashi Tharoor filed a case against him, seeking injunction against allegedly defamatory broadcasting on Sunanda Pushkar case. The court had directed Arnab Goswami “to tone down the rhetoric and exercise restraint in broadcasting program on the Sunanda Pushkar death case.” Further the court observed that “none of the observations in the present case shall be used in any criminal proceeding, if any, filed by the State.”

After the incident of mob lynching in Palghar, Maharashtra, he alleged the role of Sonia Gandhi and use derogatory languages and making “inflammatory statements” against her during the panel discussion. These statements resulting in lodging of several F.I.Rs against him in the different parts of India by the Youth Congress. There was one F.I.R. which was filed by Irfan Abubakar Shaikh, secretary of the Raza Educational Welfare Society,

and accuses Goswami of creating communal disturbance over the gathering of migrant workers in Bandra.
CID PROBE IN ABETMENT OF SUICIDE CASE.
In May 2020, The Maharashtra government ordered reinvestigation into the suicide of a 53-year-old interior designer and his mother, allegedly over non- payment of dues by TV journalist Arnab Goswami and two others. This time the investigation is to be done by CID. Earlier in this case police has been registered an abetment of suicide case against Republic TV’s editor-in-chief Goswami and two others.

After lodging the as many as more than 14 F.I.Rs, Arnab Goswami moved to Supreme Court for seeking request to quashing the F.I.Rs and request to transfer the case to CBI. The apex court in the judgement dated 19/05/2020, dismissed the plea of Arnab Goswami and clubbed all the multiple F.I.Rs. The court further refused to transfer the criminal cases lodged against him for statements made during news broadcasts to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
INTERIM RELIEF FROM ARREST AND STAY’S ON TWO F.I.R(s).
The Bombay High Court in June 2020, granted interim relief to Arnab Goswami from arrest. It suspended FIRs against him for alleged communal coverage of the Palghar lynching case and an incident of migrants gathering outside the Bandra station. Further, the court also said “no coercive steps will be taken against Goswami until his petition against the two FIRs is finally disposed of.”
