Protesting farmers at Delhi is still protesting against new farmers Laws and sought nationwide support from political parties.

Farmers called ‘Bharat Bandh’ today on December 8 after several rounds of failed talks with the Central government.

Why is Bharat Bandh?

Bharat Band call by the Protesting farmers is a nationwide strike called on 8th December for protest against agricultural laws passed by the Centre.

All India Kisan Federation president Prem Singh Bhangu reportedly said on Saturday after the fifth round of talks between farmers’ leaders and the Centre failed to break the deadlock. The sixth round of talks has been scheduled for Wednesday 9th December 2020.

Central Government issued countrywide advisory for “Bharat Bandh”

Government has asked all states and UTs to boost security during ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by the farmers unions and supported by opposition parties in states.

Government said that peace and tranquility must be maintained on that day, officials said. In a countrywide advisory, the Union Home Ministry also said the state governments and UT administrations must ensure that the COVID-19 guidelines issued with regard to health and social distancing are strictly followed.
