Uttarakhand High Court Permits Char Dham Yatra

The Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday withdrew its Stay and allowed the resumption of the Char Dham Yatra.

People with a negative Covid report will be permitted to visit Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

The Bench of Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma passed the Order, while hearing the Application moved by the Uttarakhand Government asking the Court to allow the Yatra, which was stayed by the Court on June 28.

Following Guidelines are issued for Chardham Yatra

  1. A mandatory COVID-19 negative test report
  2. Certificate for complete (double) vaccination
  3. In one day only 800 devotees are allowed at Kedarnath Dham
  4. Only 1200 devotees are allowed at Badrinath Dham
  5. 600 devotees at Gangotri 
  6. 400 devotees at Yamunotri Dham

The Court ordered the State Government to deploy an adequate number of Police officers and Authorities at each temple.

This was done to to ensure that there is no overcrowding and that Covid protocol is being followed.

The Court further ordered that the Secretaries of the District Legal Services Authority of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag – the districts in which the Char Dham temples are located – will submit weekly reports to the High Court detailing the measures and status of crowding at each of the temples.
