Bharti Singh who is a comedian and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa a writer was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in November. A descent took place in November at their apartment and they were found guilty of possession of 86.5 grams of cannabis. Due to this act, the couple was taken under custody by the NCB but were later granted bail on 23rd November.
The NCB challenged the bail granted and the application was moved to the Sessions Court on 1st December 2020. Advocate Ayaz Khan who is appearing in court for the couple asked the Court time to file a comprehensive reply to the application filed by the NCB.

The court accepted the request and therefore both the application are scheduled to be heard on 9th December 2020.
According to the NCB, the bail granted to the couple could be a dangerous signal in the society putting a point across in the society that the high-profile offenders can get away with any illegal act.
The NCB, therefore, further filed various applications challenging the bail order passed.
A revision application was filed against the bail order, an application was also filed under 167(2) the CrPc and section 439(2) of the CrPc for remand to custody and remand
of a person on bail to interrogate back to custody.
The NCB also solicited to withdraw the bail granted earlier by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) and thereby ask the court to pass an order for the couple to surrender before the court. The NCB further claims that the order passed by the ACMM is in violation of the order passed by the Bombay High Court recently in the Rhea Chakraborty’s bail application case.
Therefore the NCB has filed an application challenging the bail granted to the couple.
