In a wakeup call Indian Cyber security Agency CERT has issued notice to the social media giant Twitter over the recent hacking which shocked the world. The Authority directed Twitter to submit complete details about the hacking. The Authority is seeking information on number of Indian users affected as well as impact on data.

Last Wednesday Twitter was thrown into chaos after accounts for some of the world’s most recognizable public figures, executives and celebrities including former President Barack Obama, Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden as well as a many corporate leaders including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a purported Bitcoin scam.

CERT-In has directed Twitter for providing information on number of users from India who have visited the malicious tweets and links, and whether the affected users have been informed by the platform about unauthorised access to their Twitter accounts. The Indian government has also demanded information of vulnerability exploited by attackers and modus operandi of the attack and sought details of remedial actions taken by Twitter to mitigate the impact of the hacking incident. Twitter is one of the most popular micro-blogging sites across the globe and with such a cyberattack, the company will have to regain the trust of its users.

Indian Government and Authorities is taking all possible steps to curb the cybercrime. Indian Government last month banned Tik Tok and many other apps in order to secure safe cyber space.
