A Public Interest Litigation has been file against the web series called “PAATAL LOK” which has been aired in Amazon Prime. The petition mentions, that the web series is defaming the Nepali Community and showing them in a bad light.

The petitioner has mentioned in his petition that Respondent no. 8, is the appropriate authority to whom he had earlier put forward the matter. The Court, without getting into the merit of the case, left the issue for Respondent no. 8 to address and decide.

Further, in the order, the Court said that the Respondent no. 8 should take a reasonable decision, keeping in mind the law in force.

The petitioner and any other party should be allowed to say their part and the case should be preferably disposed of within four weeks from the date or communicating this order.

If the appropriate authority finds any scene to be not fit for public viewing, then that portion should be blocked from public view.

The order passed by the appropriate authority can only be valid if it satisfies its authority to entertain the petitioner’s representation. The Writ Petition is disposed of, keeping it open for the appropriate authority to decide.

The series is produced by Actress Anushka Sharma
