Delhi Government’s communication regarding the revised wage rate of prisoners, dated 20.06.2019, has finally been approved by the Office of Director-General (Prisons) on 23.07.2020. The grant of revised wages is approved, considering all the terms conditions.
According to the Petition, the prisoners should be receiving an increased wage w.e.f. 20.06.2019 along with the arrears till date. Moreover, 25% deduction from wages of the convicts which were proposed earlier as a contribution to the Victim Welfare Fund, has also been suspended till further orders.
Owing to the pandemic situation in the country, the hearing was conducted through a virtual session. The order was shared by Mr. Sanjoy Ghose, during the hearing, it has been confirmed that no further orders are required to be passed related to the present Petition.
