Due to the spike in the numbers of Covid-19 cases in Amravati, Yavatmal, and some other places the Maharashtra Government has imposed certain regulations. As a result, the working hours of all subordinate courts in 5 districts are restricted until further intimation.

Per a notice issued by the Bombay High Court Registrar on Tuesday, the Administrative Judge’s Committee has decided upon five judicial working hours in Amravati, Yavatmal, Buldhana, Akola, and Washim districts.

They have settled on two shifts of two and a half hours each from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

The Notice in question also specified that on a given day, the following parties would be allowed inside the Court premises:

1)    Lawyers with case listed on the given day

2)    Parties appearing in person

3)    Accused persons

4)    Witnesses summoned by the Court

It explicitly stated that Lawyers and parties would be granted access inside the Courtroom only during their turns. All the Court staffers and parties will compulsorily have to maintain safety norms and be privy to the State and Union Governments’ procedures, rules, and regulations for Covid-19.

The implementation of all these measures comes in the light of the News reporting the devastating 6,218 new cases. These numbers took the tally to an overbearing 21,12,312 cases.

To add to the concerns of the Maharashtra Governance, the Akola division that comprises the aforementioned 5 districts emerges as the epicentre in the State.
