SC rosters Letter Petition and PILs to be heard by CJI and 7 other senior-most Judges

From 5th October, a new roster will come into effect that has assigned letter petitions and Public Interest Litigations (PILs) matter to the Chief Justice of India S A Bobde and the next seven senior-most judges.

They are Justices NV Ramana, RF Nariman, UU Lalit, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan, and Nageswara Rao. Earlier, PILs and Social Justice matters were designated to the CJI and three senior-most Judges.

Other assignments include matters of Election, Social Justice, and Habeas Corpus to be headed by Chief Justice, along with the cases of contempt of Courts, which will also be looked after by Justice UU Lalit.
