Zubair, Co-founder of AltNews, Filed Plea in Delhi HC Challenging his Detention

The Vacation Bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula has allowed the petition filed by Journalist Mohammed Zubair for hearing on Friday. In 2018, Zubair has tweet a post related to Hindu god for which police took him in remand.

On Thursday, he filed the petition in Delhi HC challenging his detention order passed by Patiala House Court. Zubair is also a cofounder of AltNews a news platform.

Zubair was represented in the Delhi High Court through Senior Advocate Vrinda Grover.

Zubair, was taken in remand on June 27 by Delhi Police then Patiala Court passed an order against him stating that he should be in prison for next day also. Then Delhi Police took him to Bengaluru so that the computer devices can be confiscated in relation to tweet he made in 2018 related to Hindu God.

The another cofounder of AltNews platform informed that Zubair in 2018 post a joke related to a movie of 1983 from his phone which was stolen from him in 2021 but he filed a complaint for that and submitted the same to the police but still he was taken to Bengaluru to confiscate his laptop which has nothing to do with his tweet post.

The complaint against Zubair’s tweet was reported to the Delhi Police by the account handle on name @Balajikijaiin which has got deactivated.
