Witnesses in Sagar Dhankar murder case to get Police protection

The Witness Protection Committee headed by Rohini Court District Judge, DCP and others ordered for providing police protection to the witnesses in matter involving Sushil Kumar in the Sagar Dhankar Murder Case.

On June 7, the Committee decided to order for adequate security to the witnesses taking in account the apprehensions of high risk and threat to their life.

Ajay Pipaniya, the Lawyer representing the Witnesses confirmed that the authorities of Haryana are directed to provide adequate security to witnesses in Haryana and an Inspector Level Officer would be deputed in Delhi for providing security to the witnesses.

Recently, the Delhi High Court ordered the authorities to take steps to provide protection to a witness in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl matter, under the Witness Protection Scheme, 2018.

Following the High Court’s order, the Committee was formed to look into the matter.

The directions came in while dealing with a plea of a man seeking directions for providing the protection to the petitioner and his family.

The brawl among the wrestlers was reported on May 4, in which some wrestlers were injured and Sagar one of them died during the treatment.
