On 1st December 2021, the Supreme Court of the United States is said to consider the repealing abortion rights in the country which were Legalized in the 1973 landmark case of Roe Vs Wade.

The United States Apex Court is going to be hearing oral arguments regarding the revocation of abortion rights in a Case filed by Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the only provider of abortion services in Mississippi, who challenges a Mississippi Law which calls for banning of abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

In the landmark case of Roe Vs Wade, it was ruled that the women of the United States can have an absolute right to have an abortion within the period of the first three months of the pregnancy, and some limited power in the further three months of the pregnancy.

The Former Vice-President of the United States opined, “We are asking the Supreme Court of the United States to overturn Roe Vs Wade and restore the sanctity of human life to the center of American law.”

The Mississippi law challenges the verdict of Roe Vs Wade which allowed abortion in the first three months of pregnancy. Mississippi’s Attorney General Lynn Fitch argues that a 15 weeks ban would not impose any kind of undue burden and that the Apex Court will have the responsibility to set boundaries regarding the abortion.

In 2018, the Jackson Women’s Health Organization sued the Mississippi law in which the Verdict was in favor of the clinic and a Federal Judge had quoted from the proceedings of the case. The same verdict was passed in 2019 by New-Orleans 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals.
