In a recent development pertaining to a piece of land where earlier in 1980s the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) had developed and built chawls and buildings for the citizens belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and for people having a Low Income, a new project for redevelopment has been initiated.

The project is called Dindoshi Nagar Co-op Housing Societies Union Limited, where the Union has appointed top architects and lawyers from all over the country to work on this project.

The Union Project, inclusive of all the societies that would be built under it, covers almost 33 Co-operative Housing Societies.

The Union Housing project is said to be one of the largest projects constructed in suburban parts of India. The Project will approximately cover at least 53206.09 square meters of plot area. The Project in whole after it is started, will take up 15 lakh square feet of area.

After the Redevelopment Project was announced, it was also announced that Mr. Saurabh Damle and Mr. Suren Desai are the Project Management Consultants and that one of the finest firms in India known as Solicis Lex Advocates and Solicitors, would be legal advisors in the Redevelopment Project.

The Managing Partner of Solicis Lex, Mr. Ameet Mehta, while interviewing with LiveLaw, stated that, “It is a Golden opportunity for many Developers who can deliver big projects along with MHADA, to showcase their expertise to middle income groups. While MHADA would set out the terms for the layout, the Developers shall have an advantage to build it and consume maximum potential FSI to their members and their advantage.”

On February 20, 2022 there will be a meeting of the General Body of the Redevelopment Project, wherein the head of the Architects of MHADA, Mr. Nikhil Dixit will address the Union along with Mr. Saurabh Damle and Mr. Suren Desai.
