The state government sought an order from the Bombay High Court on November 25 to stop the parallel trial in Arnab Goswami‘s Republic TV with regards to the Television Rating Points (TRP) scam case.

State counsel Kapil Sibal stated that the parallel trial would hinder the administration of justice.

The Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh detailed the alleged scam with regards to TRP’s propagated by media channels via conference on October 8.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered an FIR on an ongoing TRP case last week and took the initiative to probe into the fake TRP case.

The ED has issued summons to an official of Hansa Research Group.

A former Hansa Research employee named Vinay Tripathi was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch from Uttar Pradesh.

Hansa Research is one of BARC’s vendors on engagement with panel homes, or “people’s meters.”

The officials stated that the accused paid another accused to manipulate the ratings and asserted the prime role of the accused.

Also, the police had arrested the owners of Box Cinema and Fakt Marathi, along with TV channel Republic owners.

Republic TV’s Executive Editor Niranjan Narayanaswamy and Senior Executive Editor Abhishek Kapoor had also approached the police to record their statement.
