A Mumbai court has granted regular bail to Republic TV CEO Vikas Khanchandani in the TRP scam.
Vikas Khanchandani was arrested on Sunday.
The CEO, as well as the CFO, of ARG Outlier Media Pvt Ltd, had moved to the sessions court last week to seek anticipatory regular bail.
ARG Outlier Media owns Republic TV and Republic Bharat.
On October 6, a complaint has been filed by Nitin Deokar, an official of Hansa Research and Mumbai Police started investigating the alleged scam.
Police officials said that Khanchandani, who is the 13th accused to be arrested in the case, is the beneficiary of the scam and he had knowledge of the crime.
Earlier, a sessions court in Mumbai had granted interim relief to Republic TV COO Priya Mukherjee, who had sought anticipatory bail.
The court directed Mukherjee to be “released on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 in case of an arrest and asked her to appear before the concerned police station once every week.”
Mumbai Police crime branch is probing the role of Republic TV, Fakt Marathi, Box Cinema, News Nation, Mahamovies and Wow music channels for inflating the viewership figures, a key parameter that media buying houses consider while placing.
