Trinamul Chief Mondal’s Guard Sent to CBI Remand in Matter of Cattle Smuggling

On June 9, 2022 Saigal Hossain, security guard of Chief of Birbhum Trinamul, Anubrata Mondal was arrested by CBI as he could not be able to explain the contents of the documents according to which he had acquired the land.

The probe was conducted in connection with Cattle smuggling case. CBI found that many calls were exchanged between Saigal and Enamul Haque. Enamul Haque is the prime accused of Cattle Smuggling Case.

On June 10, he was presented in the CBI Court of Asansol which was delayed due to cease work announced by Asansol Bar Association but Judge insisted. Therefore, lawyer of both the side got ready to argue the case.

In proceeding CBI demanded 14 days remand but Court permitted only 7 days remand. He is charged under Section 7, Section 10, and Section 11 of Prevention of Corruption Act.

The counsel representing Saigal submitted that he was called for interrogation under Section 160 of Cr.P.C and there he was arrested. He alleged that the arrest was illegal.

The Court after hearing the submission issued show cause notice against CBI investigating officer for not appropriately performing the formalities. The reply need to be filed on June 17.

The CBI arranged a tight security outside the Court premises and took Saigal back to Calcutta for further interrogation in the case of Cattle Smuggling.

Mondal was questioned and can also be called again for interrogation to know whether he had any knowledge about smuggling racket.
