TMC moves to Supreme Court pleading an investigation on violence during Municipal Polls

The Trinamool Congress moved the Supreme Court on Friday pleading an investigation by a Court-Monitored Panel into the large-scale violence during the Municipal polls in Tripura.

A Bench of comprising of Justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna adjudicated the Court.

Further Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, while pleading for urgent listing of two applications filed by the party, highlighted that despite the Court’s Order for providing free access to the media to the Election procedure was not followed.

Advocate Sibal stated “There was absolute mayhem there. Even candidates were not allowed to vote. There were violent incidents. Even media reports said that there was violation of Supreme Court orders.”

Also Sibal stated that troops of Central Armed Police Forces were not sent and that the evidence is recorded on electronic Media.

Further Justice Chandrachud while highlighting that the Judges are occupied with Official Functions on Constitutional Day stated “Let’s see what can be done.”Justice Furthermore he has also assured that he would be talking to Justice Bopanna during lunch as there would be an official function on Saturday.

Advocate Sibal stated that the Court can hear the Matter tomorrow despite being Saturday.
