Justice Indu Prabha Singh, the former Judge of Patna High Court, who was the first judge of the High Court passed away.
She held office at the High Court in Ranchi. She was elevated to the bench on July 10, 1990 and has served as a judge for a span of 17 years. She demitted office on September 1, 2007.
Justice Singh had joined the bar at Patna High Court in 1971. She served as a Government pleader for 5 years before she was elevated to the bench.
Singh’s father Maheshwar Singh was the member, Senate of the Faculty of Law and of the Board of Examiners in Law, Bihar University. He was also the Vice-Principal, SKJ Law College and a Public Prosecutor at Muzaffarpur.
During her 17- year long career, she has pronounced several landmark judgements including on Panchayati Raj and cessation of unfair means.
