Jitu Vaghani, Education Minister and Governments spokesperson had said that the Cattle Bill which was Passed in the Legislative Assembly was Temporarily Suspended due to the Oppositions made by the Maldhari (Pastoral) Community.

The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel had a second-round meeting with State Urban Minister Vinod Moradiya and the Representatives of Maldhari Community.

“The Chief Minister has decided to put the implementation of the new proposed law on hold so that there is no inconvenience to any groups or sections of the society,” statement made by Vaghani.

Gujarat Cattle Control (Keeping and Moving) in Urban Areas Bill, 2022 was presented in the Assembly on March 31 which was passed that day only even after the Opposition raised Objection to it.

The Pastoral Community even threatened the Government to destroy the milk supply chain in the State.

The said Bill has a Provision regarding tagging of animals, their Registration and License is Mandatory to hold cattle.

It also has a Provision that if the cattle were found in any area Prohibited in the Bill and not removed in the given time then such owner will be Punished with one-year Imprisonment with 5000 Rupees fine.

The Pastoral Community objected that these Provisions were already there in The Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporation Act, 1948 and The Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963

The Chief of the Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party, CR Paatil also met the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel so that the decision on the said Bill should be reevaluated by him as the Community is really upset with the said Bill.
